1915 | Santa Rita Mountains | Southeastern Arizona

From the introduction to F.C. Schrader's and J.M. Hill's ground-breaking work on the geology of the Santa Rita Mountains, SE Arizona, "The field work forming the basis of this paper was a reconnaissance from March 7 to June 20, 1909, by F. C. Schrader and J. M.Hill, Mr. Schrader being in charge of the investigation." US Geological Survey Bulletin 582, "Mineral deposits of the Santa Rita and Patagonia Mountains, Arizona", was published in 1915. It constitutes the foundation upon which later studies by the USGS and Arizona Geological Survey, among others, were constructed. The report and 3 map plates, including this geologic map of the Helvetia camp area, are available online at http://pubs.er.usgs.gov/publication/b582
